Fire – 26th March 2023 10:30am – 2:30pm
All campers would agree that there is something very special and primitive about being sat outside, huddled around a campfire.... Don’t take our word for it though, come and join us for the first of our 4 elemental takeovers…..FIRE!
Here we begin by discussing the origins of fire, folklore, its important role in human evolution and its different uses in survival situations.
We also cover:
Introductory fire lighting techniques
Natures fire extenders and exploring plants and fungi with fire lighting properties
Foraging for fire lighting resources
Batoning wood, using and edged tool
Advanced fire lighting workshop
Our course includes a delicious light lunch cooked over an open fire.
We finish off our day with a mini campfire challenge! Can you utilise the skills learnt in this session to create your own personal campfire and toast a marshmallow? Lets see if you can put those new skills to the test…….
All of our fire lighting activities cover fire safety, fire management and safe tool use to ensure personal safety throughout and minimal impact to the environment.
Water – 30th April 2023 10:30am – 2:30pm
During our second Elemental experience day, we take a closer look at waters vital role in survival and ways in which we can source and purify water to make it safe for human consumption.
We also cover:
Different water harvesting and purification techniques
Collecting and purifying our own water.
Exploring different styles of pot hangers and making our own
Natural cordage
After lunch, we get our walking boots on and venture deep into the woodland in search of one of the oldest fresh water streams in the UK, looking at navigation techniques and tree and plant ID along the way.
Our course includes a delicious light lunch cooked over an open fire.
Earth – 28th May 10:30am – 2:30pm
Our Elemental earth session is a wonderful combination of many different bushcraft techniques all rolled into one.

Shelter building, utilising both natural materials and tarps
Creating our own community camp using the different methods
Exploring plants and fungi, looking at their medicinal benefits, sharing folklore and stories
